Though we only started full-time RVing in September, we still managed to see a few places in Colorado before heading south for the winter. Click the small, gray, horizontal line below the map to scroll through the details of our journey. We started in Longmont (marked with the yellow star) and ended in Tucson.
We spent the first half of 2021 living our lives as Colorado residents, enjoying camping in our previous motor home, a 2017 Fleetwood Flair ("Florence"). We had a great time! We camped around Denver with friends, and then took a big trip to the western slope of Colorado, up to Idaho, and back -- picking up Sue and Toni along the way. The trip was completely amazing.
We hung out with friends and family at Rifle Gap State Park and Rifle Falls State Park, and then we went home to Denver for a bit before we had our next trip planned.
Then, in mid-August, we thought we'd spend a fun Saturday afternoon at Transwest of Frederick just looking at the Newmar motor homes and dreaming about the future. The salesperson we usually worked with said she had a coach that was perfect for us. Well... it was!
We thought about it, but not for too long. We soon found ourselves moving money around and canceling camping plans so we could buy the coach, a 2019 Newmar Dutch Star ("Dora"). We were moving out of a 30-foot, gas-powered, lower-end motor home into a luxury, 43-foot, high-end motor home. We couldn't believe how our lives turned around!
It took a bit of planning, but we were able to find places to stay until we headed south to New Mexico at the end of October. We landed in Tucson a month after that to visit with family and put down roots (however briefly). We made it, and we're still blissfully happy! Not one, single regret between us.
Next year should be a good one, and we already have the entire year planned out. We'll see a bit more of the southwest, a little bit of the midwest, and still spend a lot of our summer in Colorado. Adventures, here we come!

31 Dec 2021We are wrapping up the year just being thankful that all of our Colorado friends are safe during the Marshall Fire. Our condo was just a few miles away, and we had many friends in the area. We consider ourselves lucky, but we’re thinking about those were were not as fortunate. Colorado is an amazing place to live because of the people, and they will band together to make sure everyone else makes it through this. Stay strong, Colorado!
