Kremmling and Many Lakes

Kremmling and Many Lakes

July 20th through 30th, 2022

Our stay in Kremmling, Colorado was a whirlwind and the highlight of our summer. Kremmling is a small town with friendly people, and its primary draw is being in the middle of Middle Park, a huge valley with lots to do if you're outdoorsy. It's called a Hunter's Paradise, but we were in it for the boating. We ended up visiting four, big lakes while we were there (well, big for Colorado anyway).

Wolford Mountain Reservoir

First, we checked out the water closest to us at Wolford Mountain Reservoir. We could see it from the highway, and we could also see a lot of camping. The boat ramp and parking were easy, which is always a bonus. We really wanted to camp there someday (it would be great for a camping rally with our friends).

The scenery was gorgeous. It's a long lake tucked in a valley with mountains all around. We saw a few eagles too, which was pretty cool. Lacey actually jumped in the water by herself, which was a big, brave accomplishment!

We took a 360-degree video of each of the reservoirs, and this was a good one. Use your mouse or move your phone to look around.

We really enjoyed this reservoir, but there was only so much time to explore.

Stagecoach State Park Reservoir

We usually know about state parks for their camping, and there wasn't much camping at Stagecoach State Park. So, we'd honestly never heard of this Colorado gem until we decided to stop by to check out the water. We're both from Colorado, so we instantly recognized it as a ski town -- which was interesting because there was no evidence of ski mountains. We looked it up, and it used to be a ski town, but it didn't last long.

Now, it's an awesome little town with a lake, and the views are amazing. There were lots of people on stand-up paddleboards and in kayaks. The day was absolutely gorgeous until the afternoon weather rolled in. We managed to get off of the lake before the big rains and wind started.

Williams Fork Reservoir

Margot took her e-bike on a long bike ride from our RV park to Williams Fork Reservoir one day while Monica was working, so she was looking forward to boating on the water there. Like all of the lakes we saw while we were in Kremmling, the scenery was awesome. Everything was green and lovely.

The 360-degree video is a great way for us to remember our trip and for others to see where we went. Lacey loved it!

Green Mountain Reservoir

Our last Kremmling boating day was to Green Mountain Reservoir. Anyone who has driven on Highway 9 north of Dillon has driven by the long reservoir, and we couldn't wait to finally explore it. Though you could see the highway from much of it, there was never any highway noise. There were lots of secluded coves to enjoy. One even had a little waterfall.

We've been lucky to see a few cliff jumpers at lakes in 2022, and this was a fun one. Lots of kids were jumping off of the high rocks near the dam, and a few boats joined us to watch. It was relaxing just hanging out, and fun to watch the festivities. Lacey enjoyed a beach and playing in the water. She even got to play on a sandbar we had to ourselves.

We really enjoyed our time in Kremmling, and we hoped to visit again someday. What a fun place to stay!
