Paso Robles, Wine Country

Paso Robles, Wine Country

March 15th to 22nd, 2026

This single week in Paso Robles was way too short. We didn't know how amazing it would be there! It's wine country, even bigger than Napa wine country, and just as beautiful. It was like being in Italy. By the time we left, we were pronouncing it correctly (rhymes with "lasso nobles").

But Malibu Beach wasn't so quick to let us go. We were staying on the Pacific Coast Highway 101 when we were there, and we were only a few short miles up the coast when we lost all pressure in a trailer tire. We found a lovely place to stop on the highway to discover we had a completely shredded tire. At least the views were awe inspiring. We called for a tire change (we have a spare, we go through trailer tires like candy), and it wasn't long before it was changed and we were back on the road.

We had an uneventful St. Patrick's Day and Monica did her nails with a wine theme. We had a big day planned for a vineyard and wine cave tour at Halter Ranch. What an experience! Lunch was lovely, and so was the tour. Monica spent too much on a couple bottles. We learned a lot, Margot was on her feet all day and didn't pay too much for it, and it was a fantastic day.

Our last full day in Paso was spent on a trip to Pinnacles National Park. It was a beautiful drive, and the park was nice. It wasn't crowded at all. We drove the park to see the sights, but we didn't do any hiking.

The worst part about Paso was leaving it. Margot had done a lot of planning to get our refrigerator replaced. It stopped making ice, and the main part of the fridge was failing. Whirlpool sent a replacement free of charge, but it wasn't going to be easy to switch it out for the old one. We'd start our next trip working on that. Onward and upward!
