Chatfield State Park

Chatfield State Park

April 28th - May 3rd, 2022

We lived in Colorado most (Margot) or all (Monica) of our adult lives, and we probably have camped the most at Chatfield State Park in the southern suburbs of Denver. It was always close to home, which made it a great spot for a quick, weekend getaway. More than that, it sits at the base of the mountains and the Front Range, and the scenery can't be beat. Couple that with a pretty nice reservoir and big campsites, and it's no wonder we've spent a lot of time there (check out our Chatfield post from 2021!).

In many of the previous years, we've had Segways to zoom around the bike trails. They were awesome for sightseeing and visiting friends in distant campground loops, but not great for going long distances. This year, we had our Juiced Bikes Hyperscorpions and we were able to see so much more. We even went to a distant gas station to pick up Amazon deliveries. Too cool!

We used our GoPro MAX 360-camera as a regular GoPro by only using one lens, and we attached it to the back of our bike racks to get video of the person and bike behind the lead bike. The bike trail system that goes through Chatfield is huge and we only saw a bit of it, but the video gives you a really good view of what to expect and what we saw.

We were staying at the park with Heather and Mike, which was really nice. It gave us the chance to sit down, hang out with friends, and play games. We went out on the water but didn't do a 360-degree video this time (there is a lot of video from our trip to Chatfield in 2021, though there was a lot more water in the reservoir that year). We even had a little BBQ to hang out with a few friends from Monica's work. It was a nice, relaxing stay.

Pack Leashes reached out to us after seeing Lacey on Instagram, and we bought a matching collar, harness and leash set from them at a big discount in exchange for sending photos. We took a few pictures of her, and she was born to model! She has been wearing her collar (and bow) every day, and it's as tough and reliable as it is cute. We're definitely going to get more of them. It sounded like a scam at first, but we're happy to say they haven't bothered us once since our purchase.

Though we'd both been to Chatfield more than a few times, we'd never been over to the dog park. We took Lacey there (we had to drive, it's far on the other side of the park) and she loved it! It's a huge area that is fenced in, with paths and ponds. There were dogs running around everywhere, and Lacey made a ton of new friends. We even found ourselves chatting with a few people along the way. It was a really nice time, and we will definitely take her there again.

It felt like vacation the whole time we were at Chatfield, which was really nice. This was definitely a great stay.

Margot finds the cabana is a great place to work -- we love it!
