The Three Gs

The Three Gs

June 28th through July 2nd, 2022

We had a blast in Wyoming spending time at the Three Gs: Guernsey Reservoir, Grayrocks Reservoir, and Glendo Reservoir. We decided to stay at a commercial campground for full hookups (electricity, water, and sewer) instead of at any of the many campgrounds near the water, and that put us in Lingle, Wyoming. The campground was pretty empty and not at all fancy, but we liked our time in the country.

Guernsey Reservoir was probably the closest to our campground, and we started there. It ended up being one of our favorite reservoirs of the summer. The weather was perfect, and we found a nice cove to hang out in. We took 360-degree videos of each of them, which is a great way to remember what we saw. We loved it!

The next weekend we visited Grayrocks Reservoir. It's not nearly as popular as Guernsey and Glendo, probably because the other two are close to I-25. Grayrocks was gorgeous, and there weren't as many people. This time, our cove had a lot of fun for Lacey when she got up close to a little frog. She didn't know what to make of it! She's also getting braver about going farther into the water to get her favorite stick. We had a nice time while we were there.

We managed to get off of the water right before the rain and wind came at us, only with a few minutes to spare after we put the boat cover on. Luckily, there weren't many people getting off of the lake at that time.

The next day, we headed to Glendo Reservoir. There were a lot more boats on the water, but it's a huge lake so we didn't mind. We found a cove tucked away down a finger of water -- we could still hear the partiers on the other side of the little strip of land we went around, but it was nice there. We set up a shade cabana this time and had snacks, and we stayed for a while. It was just about perfect.

But the weather was changing as we were cruising around the lake, and we had a long way to get back to the boat ramp. We went as fast as we could in the choppy water, and managed to get off of the lake and get the boat covered just before the weather turned nasty -- again! We were timing it perfectly, and it was awesome.

Even after three big days of boating we weren't really ready to stop. But we had other sights to see. Lingle was right in the middle of everything, and we still managed to see three national parks while we were there. It was a lot for a week! That post is coming up next. We were loving Wyoming!
