We had three weeks to explore the area around Elephant Butte, and we took the boat on a day trip to Caballo Lake State Park. It's not too far south of where we were staying, so it was an easy trip. We took a 360-degree video of the lake, so use your mouse or move your cell phone to look around.
You could tell that this lake wasn't nearly as busy throughout the year as Elephant Butte Lake was, and we liked getting away from it all for a day. It was a pretty cool location.
After that, it was time to pack up and head farther south to Arizona. We really had a great time in New Mexico. We spent one night in Lordsburg, New Mexico, and we made it to the last tour of the Shakespeare Ghost Town just outside of Lordsburg. It was awesome to see the remnants of the old town. Lordsburg isn't really a destination, but we still had a nice afternoon before heading out in the morning.
Off to Arizona!
